Pass the Rock 4 – Double Down On Depressing

It’s back, from outer space. And other such things since there were too many problems in the recording for me to be witty. It’s Pass the Rock 4. (Edit note: I forgot to cut out the “count in” for the recording and some other stuff at the beginning. It’s a long render, so I’d rather just post a warning about it) Click here to download a .mp3 Show Notes As mentioned, lot of hard cuts and audio in this one because of…something that seemed to dislike us talking politics. Meh, it’s been a week. Here’s the listing of the albums...

Pass the Rock Ep 3 – That’s a Thing

I’m out of creativity, so here’s the new episode. Click here to download a .mp3 Show Notes You’re gonna notice some audio drops this episode. I was playing around with using my mixer to mute my mic. However, I was, for half of the podcast, turning the wrong knob that resulted in me muting EVERYTHING rather than just myself. You’ll also notice a smash audio cut near the end. That’s the result of a Skype drop. If they happen early in the episode we just restart, this one happened 49 minutes in. The random piece of background noise for this...

Pass the Rock 2 – Sad and Depressing

It’s so nice we did it thrice. That’s the extent of my creative writing for the day. It’s Pass the Rock. Click here to download a .mp3 Show Notes Not much this week; if you listen closely, you’ll be able to hear both of my dogs bark. Can you tell the difference in their voices? As the description implies, we did have to record it three times, thankfully not all the way through, but the mental fumbles may have happened and we might have thought we mentioned something for us to only have mentioned it in a previous recording attempt....

Pass The Rock Ep 1 – Sneak Attack

This is the image the either Audacity or VLC decided would be right for the thumbnail for this, the inaugural episode of a podcast many years in the making (actually, 2 mon ths in the making, but it’s the thought that counts), and I suppose it is a sneak attack in a way, and I’m sure many people weren’t expecting it. But here it is, in all of it’s my-mic-peaked-too-much-glory. Teething issue, kids, teething issues. Here’s the section where show notes will appear when I type them tomorrow. Direct Download

The Two Sides of Learning New Frameworks

This is the first time I’ve ever written a blog/article/story about anything to do with my academic experiences. Academia has always been particularly sacrosanct to me, and something that I preferred to keep to myself. However, for once I feel compelled to share an academic experience with all of those who are interested. Originally I was preparing to create a persuasive argument against doing what I’ve done these past two months before the posting of this, but reflection on that led me to believe that to be too self-serving. An overly positive article would be facetious. So I shall split...

Making Videos With Adobe Premiere and Audition

I created this reasonably short (35 minutes) video to help other students at the school I go to (Full Sail University) with the making of videos using more advanced tools than just iMovie. If you’re not a Full Sail student making a class-specific video, it might still be of use to you. Addendums WIP Addendum 1 – Text Tutorials: For those who don’t like either videos tutorials or my voice. Addendum 2 – Advanced Tutorials: I’m nowhere near an expert, but there are some things I do know that I left out of the video for simplicity. This is the...

The Comedian

I do so hate personal blogs, more so ones where I reflect upon myself. “Me” is a topic I try and avoid when I can, so this little musing about something said to me ages ago is going to be a rarity. It’s also going to be rather meandering and somewhat dark. You’re forewarned. A few years ago, a friend of mine made some off hand comment about my humor, that I should be a comedian. It was a conversational comment, and I didn’t think much of it then. Unfortunately, I have a bad habit of recalling pointless things long...

Under Pressure

As I sit here waiting for video to render 4 hours before the due date of a large project, I felt like shortly musing upon why I do this, wait for the last moment for things like this. While procrastination is a human feature, for me I think there’s more to it, and it comes down to more one simple thing: pressure. Pressure brings out the best in me. It erases my usual lackadaisical-ness when it comes to doing things, it marginalizes my perchance for procrastination, makes me use myself to my fullest potential. Pressure also brings out the worst...

I’m Back Into Magic

So because of some jerk at work, let’s call him…Rhaun, I got back into Magic a few weeks ago. Not to the level of writing a blog or anything, but Rhaun (who I totally didn’t just change the first letter of their name) has got me thinking back on the short-ish lived blog series I did about Magic, Magic Card of the Week. I’m writing this little blog to highlight a few of my favorite of the old blog series that I’m not reviving ever. Here’s the short-list. Domestication I like this card because I’m a pervert. Angelic Destiny It...
